We are an inclusive sangha. All are welcome.
Music of the Heart Sangha is a cooperative sangha that practices in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (often referred to as Thay, which means “teacher.”). Following Thay’s 2011 retreat at Magnolia Grove Monastery, the “Seeking Inner Peace” break-out group returned to Nashville and formed the Music of the Heart Sangha. We have been meeting weekly ever since.
We meet to practice meditation and mindfulness each week on Sunday. We also host mindfulness events throughout the year. Our weekly practice is led by sangha members, using the Sangha Handbook and Thay’s teachings in the tradition of Plum Village. We are an inclusive sangha, open to all that are interested in practicing the way of awareness, understanding, peace and joy. We meet weekly on Zoom, except for the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, when we meet both in-person and on Zoom.

“It takes time to practice generosity, but generosity is the best use of our time.” Thich Nhat Hanh
Continuing the mindful teaching of Thich Nhat Hanh
ARISE Sangha (Awakening through Race, Intersectionality, and Social Equity) is a community of mindfulness practitioners and monastics who come together to heal the wounds of racial injustice and social inequity, beginning with looking deeply within ourselves and using the energy of compassion, understanding, and love in action. As practitioners in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, we aspire to engage our global community in the work of healing through social action. We seek to nourish and protect Beloved Community in our sangha and beyond.
