We are an inclusive sangha. All are welcome.

Music of the Heart Sangha is a cooperative sangha that practices in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (often referred to as Thay, which means “teacher.”). Following Thay’s 2011 retreat at Magnolia Grove Monastery, the “Seeking Inner Peace” break-out group returned to Nashville and formed the Music of the Heart Sangha. We have been meeting weekly ever since.

We meet to practice meditation and mindfulness each week on Sunday. We also host mindfulness events throughout the year. Our weekly practice is led by sangha members, using the Sangha Handbook and Thay’s teachings in the tradition of Plum Village. We are an inclusive sangha, open to all that are interested in practicing the way of awareness, understanding, peace and joy. We meet weekly on Zoom, except for the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, when we meet both in-person and on Zoom.

News & Resources

“The sangha is a boat that transports us and prevents us from sinking into the ocean of suffering. This is why it is so important that we take refuge in the sangha. Allow your community to hold you, to transport you. When you do, you will feel more solid and stable and will not risk drowning in your suffering.” — Thich Nhat Hanh, from his book Creating True Peace
